Go Noles!

Logan is a die-hard Florida State Seminoles fan. He told me he wanted to wear this t-shirt today. As you can see, I got contacts and have been testing them out for a few days. Nathan told me that my eyes looked big and I proceeded to tell him that they are always this size.

He participated in tummy time for a good 10 minutes last night without fussing at all. He was holding himself up really well, too!

Logan loves to smile up at his Mommy!

I just like this outfit. He's my spiffy little man.

Sleepy Boy

This is Logan's favorite sleeping position.

Cute Baby

He's getting bigger and bigger!

Unfortunately, Logan hates tummy time. Poor little man.

Fighting the Sleep

Poor Grandma Witte came over last night to hold Logan and he screamed the whole time. He tends to get sleepy around 6:30 and we usually put him down anywhere around 7:30 to 8:30. I'm used to letting him fuss a little in his swing or I cuddle with him. He must be used to that, because as soon as I would hand him over to Doreen the fussing would begin. He's a bit of a Momma's Boy at this point.
I thought he would be good because he played on his own for a good 1/2 hour with his play gym before Doreen came over. Oh well. I ended up holding him for 10 minutes after she left and he was quiet. I handed him to Nathan to try and get him to sleep at about 8:30, he fussed for 2 minutes, and then zonked out in his crib. He woke up this morning at 7:15 on schedule. Little stinker.

Off to Daycare

Logan loves his mommy! (If he's anything like his Daddy, he will also love heavy machinery.)

Logan is always very silly in the morning and has usually scooted into an awkward position by the time I go and get him. He's kicking his feet up in the photo and waiting for me to pick him up. How in the world does he manage to pull his arm out of that swaddling? Hey, as long as he keeps sleeping for 10 hours straight like last night.
He's very curious about the camera, too. You can see that his expression is somewhat perplexed.

It's a COLD Day

I tried leaving work yesterday and it was like I was driving on square wheels. I managed to back up about 4 feet and I got out of my car and saw that both of my front tires were flat. Both! The driver side tire was REALLY flat and frozen too. It is so cold up here with a wind chill of -30 that I don't know what happened. It could have been the cold or ice or anything. Nathan has his theories. Anyway, Nathan ended up picking up two babies yesterday and had to drop off both of us today. The funny thing is that he's been picking up a coworker to drive to work too, so he's just been carting everyone around.

Logan slept well last night from about 7:30 to 7:15 and woke up once at 9:30. Nathan, for the first time, fed him with a bottle the we desperately needed to use and put Logan to sleep without my help. It's very hard for me to not hover and try to help, but last night I walked away with full confidence in Nathan. We both woke him up this morning and got some video of him grinning up at me whilst kicking the end of his crib. How he shifting down to the end, I will never know.

Last night we had a record night. I put Logan to bed at about 7:45 and he did not wake up again until 6:45 the next morning. He didn't even wake up screaming, just hungry. I, of course, woke up a couple of times just to make sure the monitor was working.

Clyde likes to sniff Logan's face. Logan doesn't really care. He lasted in his chair for a few minutes and then let me know that enough was enough. If you click on the photo to enlarge it you can see how pretty Logan's blue eyes are.

We are have quite the snow storm right now with more than a foot of snow on the ground and more to come. We will have a wind chill of -30 degrees tonight.

Little Turkey

Last night was a rough night, but I can't have a good night all the time. I attempted putting Logan to bed at 7:40 and he didn't go to sleep until about 1:00 am with a lot of help from Nathan.

I think that it will take time for all of us to adjust to the new schedule. I just felt bad because I had to wake the little guy up this morning and I bet he would have slept more.

So, let me go into more detail about last night...
I fed him and he was wide awake until 10:00 pm and we played in the meantime. Until that point he was in a really good mood and talking and smiling at me for a few hours. At 10:00 I fed him again and he fell asleep, so I put him in his bassinet and Nathan and I went to sleep. Ten minutes later Logan was crying and Nathan changed his diaper. I put him back to sleep and then he woke up crying again. It was starting to reach around 11:30 at this point and I was exhausted because I only slept 3 hours the night before. As Logan is crying I walked over to him and he stops crying so that he can grin up at me as I pick him up. Honestly, those grins are worth sleepless nights. I decided, however, that we were going to do something radical and make him sleep in his own room. I moved the whole operation downstairs and Logan has resumed his fussiness at this point and I am getting more than a little frustrated. I woke Nathan up to help me and I handed Logan to him. I proceeded to roughly throw a box of trash all over the kitchen. I went back into the nursery and kissed both my boys and then went back into the kitchen to calmly pick up the mess I made. Sometimes I do better if I can do silly things like slam a few doors or make a mess. Anyway...Nathan stayed up with Logan and slept in the adjacent room with the monitor so that I could sleep upstairs without distraction, unless Logan needed to eat. I went upstairs and cheated a bit because I had a monitor too, but I turned it off after a few minutes and fell asleep within 10 minutes. Logan ended up falling asleep by 1:00 am and didn't even wake up to eat in the night.

Of course he was an angel as usual this morning. Sometimes we have these difficult nights and I am so thankful that Nathan is there to give me a break.

Getting Back to Work

Well it has been my first day back at work and things haven't been too bad. I haven't broken down crying and I only called the daycare once to see how Logan was doing. Twelve weeks sure did go by quickly.

Leaving him was hard this morning and I was pretty close to tears, but I managed to prevail and extinguish them before they started. I did make Nathan take a goodbye photo of me kissing Logan, however. Logan didn't care a bit.

I brought a mini-fridge to work and I have my pumping gear. Everything went well in that regard and it really doesn't take much time out of the day.

I get to pick him up in fifteen minutes, so I'm pretty excited about that.

Best Friends

Logan and Tyler are almost exactly a month apart with Tyler being born in September and Logan in October. We got together with the Lambs on Sunday night and we had to take a picture of these two together. Aren't they cute?!

I go back to work on Thursday and I have been mentally preparing myself for the event. Last night I couldn't fall asleep because I was thinking of all the things we need to take to his daycare. Logan is going to a licensed home care provider who goes to our church. She has a number of children in a range of ages and Logan will be the youngest. Doreen recommended her and we were impressed with her when we took the tour of her home.

Newly Baptized for the New Year

2008 was a life changing year for us as we welcomed Logan into our family. He is sleeping 6 to 8 hour stretches at night, but brought in the New Year with a 9 hour stretch of sleep last night! He loves to smile and talk to us now. We are trying to get him interested in his play gym, but it's a slow process at this point. Logan detests tummy time and fusses when we lay him on his tummy, unless it's to sleep on his Mommy. He's not a bit spoiled!

We had Logan baptized in Fort Wayne on December 28th and a large group of Nathan's family was able to attend. You can see Logan's Godparents above (Ben and Allison) and his Grandparents below. He was a good boy for the ceremony and didn't even cry. We had lunch with everyone at Flat Top Grill afterwards and we brought a cake from Walmart.
When ordering the cake I had to correct the baker's spelling of Baptism twice and when we picked up the cake I realized that they had added the decoration of a Rosary necklace to the cake. Too bad we aren't Catholic. We ate that part of the cake first.

What a happy little man!
