It's Week 14...

I have finally put on a new photo (sorry it took so long, Mom). The bad news is that I am wearing a black shirt today and it makes it a little more difficult to see. I actually don't see too much of a difference between now and 2 weeks ago. I little more belly, but it's hard to see with my self-photography. I do what I can! The trick si seeing how many different views of my office you can see while still having a location to balance my camera and set the timer. I promise to wear some better colors for future pictures that show off my more rotund midsection.
In non-baby news (is there such a thing?!) I attended a chamber event last night an managed to win a gigantic picnic basket of Harry and David products and I, also, won a gift certificate to Olive Garden! A very productive night in terms of goodies!

Second Trimester Here I Come!

Today is a momentous day because it is the first day of my second trimester; a very exciting time of limited discomfort! (We shall see about that.)

I thought I would include the photo of our stroller that was purchased at almost half off...ours is red. It has an attachment for an infant carrier and is a lightweight model called the Micralite Fastfold Stroller. The only issue is that it does not have a cup holder, but we've already found a holder that we can attach to it, so problem solved!

Birthday Cake

Yesterday was my birthday and I asked for a slice of Red Velvet Cake. Unfortunately, the restaurant that Nathan was going to get it from hadn't made any yet, so they made Nathan purchase the whole cake. It is giant and yummy! There is enough for all of you to come over and have a slice.

Furniture, Furniture Everywhere

Nathan and I had a long talk last night about what-the-heck we were going to do with our house/nursery. We talked about all of the projects that were going to have to be completed and we came to the quick realization that we will not be moving any time soon. So, now we are looking to rearrange the rooms downstairs and shift furniture around and magically make everything fit. We have determined that Nathan's desk made out of a door will have to be thrown out and my big desk will replace it. The list goes on...

Nathan bought me this rocking chair for my Birthday and it came yesterday; the subsequent unwrapping and putting together of said chair revealed that it is GIANT. It will have to take up a whole corner of the nursery. It is large enough that I can sit Indian-style in it and I kind of like that. It is currently residing in our already full Living room.

Poem

Doreen received a very special poem written by Aunt Verna and I thought I would share it because it's so cute:

Doreen is so giddy
Over Itty Bitty Witte!
But she has to wait for fall
To receive the telephone call.

That the baby has been born
On that precious eve or morn.
But wait! Babe's not so itty.
It's bigger than a kitty!

E'en though the baby is young
I hear she sticks out her tongue.
And wails come out of Itty Bitty
That's heard throughout the city!

But it's music to your ears
As you hold her comes the tears.
You love that Itty Bitty
Through all the knitty-gritty!

Cartoon Relevance

Ben said this cartoon reminded him of me.

Onesie Creation

As mentioned in a previous post, I cross-stitched "little bitty witte" onto a onesie for Ed and Doreen. Nathan and I decided that we probably needed one for ourselves too, so I've included a photo of it. Can you believe how tiny it is?

Tick-Tock, Tick-Tock

Nathan and I went to the OB again today (our second visit) to go over the standard labs that were done and do a physical exam. Right off the bat the nurse checked for the heart beat and she found it really fast! It was between 160 and 171 beats per minute, which is normal for a young fetus. It was really amazing to hear and I have to admit that I got a little teary-eyed over it. It just hits home that there is a baby growing in there.
The nurse weighed me when I first came in and I found out that I lost a pound in my first trimester instead of gaining any. Does this mean that since I'm allowed to gain 30 lbs. over the pregnancy that now I'm allowed to gain 31 lbs.? I think so. A little side note...I told Nathan that he had to lose the amount of weight that I gain along the pregnancy (it's only fair, we need to keep the world in balance), but now I told him that he's allowed to gain a pound. He seemed to like that idea and told me that maybe he would, in fact, finish my hamburger.

We're Pregnant!

I woke up on Valentine's Day morning thinking that maybe I would go ahead and take that pregnancy test test. I got everything ready and then had to wait for the prescribed five minutes. Nathan was in the shower at this point. The timer beeped and I ran into the kitchen to look at the test that had been percolating with a sinking feeling in my stomach. Would it be positive like I wanted? I saw the faint line and I ran to the bathroom with a beaming smile on my face and I told Nathan, still in the shower, that I thought I was pregnant. I took another test to be safe, with the same positive results. I, then, proceeded to tell Nathan to hurry up and get out of the shower so that we could do a little dance together.

Around Week 6 Nathan and I met Ed and Doreen at Kelsey's for dinner. It was difficult to get all of us together that weekend because they had so much to do. Nathan and I decided that we would order our drinks first and then he would hand the onesie I made and wrapped up to mom. I had cross-stitched "little bitty witte" in orange onto a white onesie. He handed it to her and she was really confused about what it was. Then, when she finally opened it, she started crying and said to Ed that we were having a baby and she hugged Nathan and me through the tears. I started crying to, but she started it.

I had ordered a hydrangea plant to be delivered to my mother while she was home for lunch today that had a card that read "congratulations, we're expecting!” I got the call from her about a half an hour ago and I couldn't understand her because she was crying so much from joy. It was really touching and she's really excited about the pregnancy. Dad called while I was still on the phone with her, so I transferred over to him and he was really excited too. He said that when mom called him he was really worried because she was crying and he couldn't understand what she was saying. He said that he thought the animals got out and that something bad had happened until he was able to piece together "Robin...baby!" He said he has never seen her like that before and that she is so excited, he is too. They are going to try and come up this spring to see us.

Nathan and I are now 12 weeks pregnant and very excited about the upcoming birth around October 22nd. We are attempting to take photos of the pregnancy every few weeks or so to show the progress and you can see Week 10 and Week 12 on this post.
