Logan had his first attempt at eating rice cereal today. Most of the food ended up on his bib, another significant amount under the bib, and maybe he actually ate some. Not too bad for a first try though. He did seem to like the food, opening his mouth and pulling it off the spoon. He just has some trouble keeping the food in his mouth.

Logan in Church

Sorry about the blurriness, but I couldn't use a flash in church. For some reason they have rules about that. Logan received his first ash cross on Wednesday and then tried to wipe it all over me.

I have been reading Dubliners by James Joyce and it has me thinking. It is a compilation of short stories following the lives of various people in Dublin. I like the book and find it very interesting to read and ponder the differences in our modern life in the US compared to James Joyce's. It's amazing to see how much we have now and how easy we have it.

It's also amazing to read about how much Irish men drank. Jeez.Logan is 50% German, Irish, American Indian, French, English. In case you wanted to know.

Anyway, parties have really changed a lot in the last century or so. They have always involved food, drink, and games, but a major portion of the party also included singing and instrument playing. I'm not talking about staged performances either, but actual invited guests sitting at the piano and playing a piece or a group of people gathering around and singing a couple of songs. The nearest we get to music appreciation is plugging an iPod into speaker now. Be forewarned...at the next party I throw there will be singing and live music. I think it's a shame that we don't appreciate the talents that our friends and family have. Nathan is killer on the kazoo.

Sweater Vests are the Best

Nathan and I took Logan for another photo session at The Picture People on Friday night and it was, surprisingly, empty. We got in an out pretty quickly and then grabbed dinner at Don Pablo's. Logan was an angel, if a little fussy, during his session. You can see that we did manage to get a smile out of him though. The photographer kept commenting on his big eyes and the woman that showed us the finished photos was saying how cute and expressive he is. I commented that we think he is cute too and then I said that all parents probably say that. Her response made me laugh...she said "Oh, but he really is cute!"

He fell asleep in my arms while we were eating dinner and I may have spilled a little bit of my tacos on him. I don't think he cared. One thing that has surprised me about motherhood is how little I care about having to stop everything to take care of Logan. It really doesn't bother me at all to drop whatever I'm doing. I think it's because he is so cute. It probably helps to have a sweet husband that gives me a break, too.

4 month Doctor's Visit

Logan had his 4 month visit to the doctor today, complete with vaccines and measurements.

Here are the stats:
Weight- 14 lbs. 9.6 oz. (50th percentile)
Height- 26 1/4" (90th percentile)

He is in great health and took his vaccinations like a pro with his crying stopping as soon as the shots were done. He thinks he's a tough guy.

Helper Logan

The calendar stays the same size and Logan keeps getting bigger! I can't believe he's already 4 months old.

Logan thinks he should be helping Nathan with our first floor bathroom makeover now. Look how good he is with a hammer.

Big Boy

Logan's Daycare was closed yesterday for President's Day so Doreen and Ben watched him. While being fed, he decided to hold the bottle on his own. Isn't he cute?!

Twins!

Nathan is constantly doing things with Logan that makes me laugh and then I have to run and get the camera. This morning I was done feeding Logan and Nathan "gives" Logan a quarter to tip me with. How considerate.

Nathan likes to lift Logan up to look at himself in the mirror above the couch. He kept smiling at himself.

Snow Up to My Ears

Logan was busy talking to his mobile this morning. He loves Winnie-the-Pooh and who can blame him. Today was the first day that he really laughed. He's been doing a silent laugh for a while now, but we actually got to hear him giggle and laugh.

We were hit by a snow squall yesterday and about 24 inches fell on the already snowy ground. You can see how high it comes up on Nathan. I'm a bit under the weather and Nathan's office was closed today due to the snow. We are supposed to get another 12 inches today, but not much has fallen yet.
