Nathan and I had our ultrasound today and we are having a boy! We are both very excited! The ultrasound photo is a profile shot and shows his head on the right and chest on the left. You can see what looks like bubbles in front of his face in some of the pictures is actually his little hand. He's very healthy with no problems at all. Everything looks to be the right size and in the right place. It was pretty neat to see him moving. When the technician got to his little manly parts I saw right away that it was a boy and I got a little teary eyed because it was so nice to finally know what the baby was going to be. I'm excited to have a little mini-Nathan running around and pulling on our dog's tail!
Now we just have to think of some boy names! I can't wait to start decorating the nursery.

Movement!
Today has been a big day as people have started to tell me that I look pregnant; it must be the shirt. I, also, have begun to feel the baby move!! It's very exciting. I have felt fluttering and what almost feels like a muscle spasm in my lower abdomen a number of times today. This is probably my last day wearing normal pants to work.
I'm sitting at my desk, thankful, that I have on a long shirt and can unbutton my pants for more comfort. I do have a tube of stretchy fabric that I will try with my regular pants. It should allow me to wear these pants a little longer by holding them up. We'll see how that goes.
Stay tuned for ultrasound results in the near future!

The Ultimate Question
I get a little of questions about my pregnancy that I am sure will continue until the baby is 18 years old. Most people ask me what I'm having and if I will find out what I'm having. Then the reaction is one of "I would find out too" to "It's supposed to be a surprise and finding out is cheating".
Yesterday, as I was getting my labwork done for the standard triple screen test, I got my first prediction. The technician told me I was having a girl because I am carrying her further back and boys tend to be carried out front more. We shall see, in the near future, if this prediction comes true.

Ever Expanding
I'm cheating a little bit and calling the photo above "17 weeks" even though I'm about 24 hours away from that, but how silly would it be to call it "16 6/7 weeks"?
My parents sent a beautiful bouquet of flowers to my office for Mother's Day! Isn't that the sweetest?!Our visit to Cincinnati was a lot of fun and I found a ton of amazing deals on maternity clothes.
Here's a list (did I mention that I like lists) of what I got:
-4 pairs of pants
-1 pair of shorts
-1 skirt
-4 shirts
-1 dress
All of that for around $6 a piece. Not too shabby.

Shopping Extraveganza
Nathan and I are traveling to Cincinnati this weekend to visit some friends and I always take the opportunity to go to the Gap Distribution Center, which is a giant outlet full of Banana Republic, Gap, and Old Navy clothes. I will be shopping for maternity clothes and baby clothes. I don't care if I don't know the gender of our little one yet; I am not going to pass off $1 clothes. I don't think anyone will find it odd for me to have a little boy wearing a pink dress anyway. Just kidding!Because dates confuse me and I spend enough time shopping anyway, I have created this little wallet sized card to take with me to the store as a little cheat sheet. Boy do I love creating silly little things!

Articles of Interest
I added a new feature to this blog that I wanted to explain. If you look along the right side of the blog you will see a little section called "Baby Articles"; this is made up of articles that I have been reading online to prepare for our little bitty witte. You look at each article headline and click on each link to go to that article. As I keep reading, the articles list will be updated and you can look at past articles by clicking on the "Read more..." link.

Latest Appointment
I haven't managed to gain any weight yet in spite of my constant eating. The baby's heartbeat is good at 158/160 and the nurse managed to find it right away without even having to move the device at all. She said it helps when there is a minimal layer of fat to work through to get that heartbeat quickly. Everything else seems to be good and we are all healthy!
