Completed Bathroom

Our bathroom is completely finished! After a couple of grueling years Nathan has completed all of the work and it is fully functional.

The first picture you can see is the before shot of the bedroom that used to be there. We have transformed the old bedroom into a walk-in closet (still in progress), hallway (still in progress, and bathroom (done!).The bathroom has a shower, claw foot tub, toilet, and vanity. It's a good size and upgrade to our downstairs bathroom and we used it for the first time this morning.

Another Visit to the Doctor

I went to the OB again today and it looks like I am on track with my weight gain. I think I've made up a little bit for my slow start. My OB office just hired a nurse practitioner to fill in a little bit over the next couple of months and she measured my fundal height for the first time today. The measurement is from the top of the pubic bone to the top of the uterus. Magically, this number in inches should correspond with the number of weeks you are pregnant. I am 23 weeks and the height of my fundus is 23 inches. Our little boy was very active as we tried to listen to his heartbeat. The nurse would try to get the beats per minute and then we would hear him moving and kicking. It was neat to feel, hear, and see the kicking all at the same time.

Carpet Tiles

I ordered the carpet tiles for the nursery a few days ago. The image is an example of what it will look like, but imagine more tiles for a look that will create an area rug of 5'-0" x 8'-0". We can install the tiles in any pattern we want with heavy duty adhesive stickers made by the carpet manufacturer. The price to buy these tiles actually ended up cheaper than buying a rug!

Abby

Here's a photo of our friends' little girl, Abby. Isn't she cute sucking her thumb?!

More Art

Here's another print that I have framed and will hang in the nursery. I like to keep my eye on Hobby Lobby as they tend to mark whole sections 50% off. I managed to buy a number of frames during one of these sales.

Various Items

I have said farewell to my belly button as I can't really see more than it's outline at this point. It might be a breeding ground for lint and I would be none-the-wiser.

My appetite has been increasing and I definitely need to eat more often now or my stomach protests. I wake up in the morning and I can barely make it through my shower without the baby demanding that I eat something. He's my little protester and it's a good thing he's not a twin or he would be rallying his sibling to form a strike. He's kicking right now in agreement.

A little good news: Our friends Donald and Liz (in Cincinnati) just had a little girl, named Abigail, on Monday. Everyone is healthy and doing fine; if a little sleepy. I could hear her in the background as I was talking to Donald and she sounded very cute. Donald did email me a link to a few photos but I am unable to copy them and post them here.
I have been compiling items for our nursery I bought the above print and framed it for our little boy. I'll keep posting items so that some of you who are far away can see the little things that will go into my obsession over the nursery.

Another Week

You can tell that I fit into maternity clothes now!

Boo Hoo

I had my first real crying fit today at work. Wasn't that fun? Someone said something to me and really made me mad, so as I was fuming in my office I started to get really upset and then I couldn't stop crying. It lasted a good ten minutes and I knew that I was getting upset over virtually nothing, but I couldn't do anything to stop the crying. I got up, closed my office door, and proceeded to let it all out in a silent fashion. It was kind of funny.
On a less hormonal note: I reaped many benefits by going garage sale-ing on Saturday morning with Nathan. I found some barely used Gap sweaters that were so cute for only $1 each. They are usually $25 to buy new. I, also, purchased a huge amount of Lincoln logs (complete with instructions) for $3 and it must be a few different sets compiled together because there are a lot of them. Honestly, I think it's about $100 worth of logs. Let's not forget that I got a bunch of unread Dr. Seuss books for 25 cents each.

Halfway Through!

I am officially into maternity pants now and wore my first pair of bigger pants last Friday (6/30). They are much more comfortable than regular pants and for some reason they accent my belly more. Now why would that be? My coworkers keep looking at me and asking, in a serious manner, how I am doing. It's funny, where were they in the first trimester! I think because the belly is pretty obvious at this point that it reminds people that I actually am pregnant.

Our little boy is kicking at a regular pace and sometimes I can actually see the movement. It's pretty neat to see my skin moving when he does.

I had a follow-up appointment to my ultrasound last week and I gained my first bit of weight. I'm up a whole 2 pounds from my pre-pregnancy weight!

Nathan and I went to a wedding a couple of weeks ago and he took some pictures of my belly. I'm at 18 weeks in the photo. The dress wasn't a maternity dress, but I thought it did the job.
